The Allen R311 at Admirals Games
DTOS is thrilled to say that our Allen R311 organ is featured at Milwaukee Admirals hockey games! The console is prominently displayed for all fans to enjoy, enhancing the atmosphere at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, previously known as the MECCA Arena. Additionally, we occasionally bring our theatre organ to various venues to share theatre organ music in places that do not have a pipe organ.
From the Ballpark to a New Home
For years, this organ was a familiar sound at American Family Field, previously known as Miller Park. Sponsored by DTOS, it entertained Milwaukee Brewers fans under the talented hands of Dean Rosko.
The Allen R311 also made appearances at popular Brewers On-Deck events, allowing fans to see Dean perform up close.
At one time, the movable R311 organ allowed audiences to enjoy live music at both American Family Field and UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena.
Today, the Brewers use recorded organ music during their games. At the same time, the R311 continues to provide live theatre organ music at Milwaukee Admirals hockey games, with Dean still playing at the console.
Making The Allen R311 “Our Own”
The console has an interesting history. When we first acquired the organ, it was taken to Dean’s home and workshop. There, he and his late father, Rich, refinished it and added the appropriate logos. The console was painted “Brewer” blue and trimmed in gold. The DTOS logo is displayed on both sides.
The Milwaukee Brewers logos are featured on the horseshoe lid, as a lasting reminder of the organ’s origins at the ballpark.
UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena & The Admirals
The UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena, previously known as the Milwaukee Arena, the MECCA Arena, and most recently the U.S. Cellular Arena, is an indoor venue located in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Opened in 1950, it can accommodate up to 12,700 spectators within its 41,700 square feet (3,874 m²) of floor space. The arena is a central part of a larger downtown campus that includes the Milwaukee Theatre and the Wisconsin Center.
Over 70 years old, it has undergone significant modernization to meet the needs of the 21st century. Upgrades include new sound and lighting systems, improved concession stands and restrooms, and essential hockey infrastructure.
The Admirals: From the Bradley Center to UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena
Since the early 1980s, the Admirals called the Bradley Center home, but after the construction of the new Milwaukee Bucks arena, they moved across the street. There is a wonderful sense of nostalgia in this building, and the organ only enhances that atmosphere!
